HIV/AIDS Biological & Behavioral Surveillance Survey, Round Two, Summary Report
Author : CDS, FHI and Ministry of Health Egypt
Date : 2010
Language : English

In collaboration with Family Health International, CDS conducted a national survey on AIDS for Egypt's Ministry of Health, focusing on 'Most at Risk Populations' (MARPs) specifically 'Men who have Sex with Men' (MSM), 'Female Sex Workers' (FSWs), 'Injecting Drug Users' (IDUs), and street children who are exposed to risky behaviors through their lives on the street. The national plan confirmed the need for more rigorous active HIV surveillance through regular second generation HIV biological and behavioral surveillance surveys among most at risk populations and the general population.

This Biological and Behavioral Surveillance Survey 2010 is the second of its kind in the series aiming to provide data on the progress of the HIV epidemic in Egypt. Evidence documenting Egypt's HIV status should be considered as a guiding force for designing and implementing an adequate response to control the pandemic.
